6 Scarf and Necklace Combos We Love

While Coco Chanel advised against wearing too many accessories, we beg to differ. This summer, we’re experimenting with layering our scarves and necklaces. Wearing two different items around your neck might feel a bit busy, but, there are a few ways to do it that are interesting enough to get you noticed, but aren’t over the top. Whether you’re running errands on the weekend and still want to look put-together, or you’re searching for the perfect addition to your girls’ night ensemble, you can pair your favorite scarf with a chic necklace and make accessory magic. Here are 6 scarf and necklace combos to incorporate into your wardrobe stat!

The Old Hollywood

Step 1: Take your favorite square scarf and hold the top two corners out in front of you.

Step 2: Fold it into a triangle.

Step 3: Take the two outer corners and tie them loosely around your neck.

Step 4: Add a pearl necklace on top.

This scarf/necklace combo is incredibly easy. The undone look is perfect for weekend errands, and the pearls give your look retro vibes. Plus, the pearls are chunky enough to hold their own against the scarf without drawing attention away from it.

The Knotted Pendant

Step 1: Grab your favorite rectangular scarf.

Step 2: Wrap it around your neck from front to back once. Then, bring the ends around to the front so that they are hanging down in front of you.

Step 3: At each end, tie a loose knot.

Step 4: Thread each end of the necklace into the knots and clasp the necklace behind your neck.

Step 5: Tuck the knots underneath the loop of the scarf so that the knots are hidden and the pendant rests directly under the loop.

For the more ambitious scarf wearer, this combo is perfect for summer when worn with a bright, lightweight scarf. Choose a pendant in a color that complements the scarf for a nicely pulled-together boho look.

The Peekaboo Pendant

Step 1: Grab your square scarf and hold the top two corners out in front of you.

Step 2: Fold it into a triangle.

Step 3: Beginning at the widest end of the triangle, fold the scarf over repeatedly until you reach the end, creating a long, thin length of fabric.

Step 4: Drape the folded scarf over the back of your neck and loop each end around a thin chain necklace multiple times. Tie both scarf ends in a double knot. Pro tip: this knot works best with a necklace that has a dainty pendant–position the necklace and the scarf so that the pendant is just barely visible above the knot on your collarbone.

While this combo is a little tougher than simply tying a scarf around your neck, the necklace and scarf look like a single accessory. Opt for this knot when you’re going for an unexpected but totally chic look, or when you’re trying to add excitement to your t-shirt and jeans.

The Upper East Side

Step 1: Take your square scarf and hold the top two corners out in front of you.

Step 2: Fold it into a triangle.

Step 3: Beginning at the widest end of the triangle, fold the scarf over repeatedly until you reach the end.

Step 4: Wrap the folded scarf around your neck from front to back to front and knot the ends underneath your chin. Add a cool chain or pendant on top.

For this combo, tying your scarf a little loosely keeps the look interesting and fresh. Just a tad undone, a look like this is sophisticated enough for the office but cool enough for girls’ night.

The Edgy Western

Step 1: Grab your neckerchief and hold the top two corners out in front of you.

Step 2: Fold it into a triangle.

Step 3: Take the two outer corners and tie them loosely around the back of your neck.

Step 4: Put the necklace on over the neckerchief, adjusting so that it sits at roughly the same length as the scarf.

A statement necklace is always a good conversation starter, especially when coupled with a cool neckerchief, so let them do the talking by keeping the rest of your outfit understated. Choose a statement necklace in a color that contrasts with the scarf for an extra pop.

The Easy Breezy
